Good eye! This is indeed an exception, of sorts. From what I understand, once upon a time there was a difference in pronunciation between おお and おう, but it has largely faded away. Nonetheless, some words are still "spelled" (kana-ed?) with the less common おお . 十日(とおか) is one of those exceptions.
Another common example is anything that uses the kanji 大 with its くんよみ, like the adjective 大きい(おおきい), or place/personal names like 大阪(おおさか) or 大島(おおしま). Also, the verbs 通る(とおる), which means "to pass through", and 覆う(おおう) which means "to cover".
Does anyone reading this know of any others?
